While outwardly claiming it wants to address global warming, the US secretly resisted proposals by other G-8 nations-- none of whom has a great record on this issue either-- to set emissions targets, cut greenhouse gases below 1990 levels and cap permissible temperature rises.

Secret, that is, until Greenpeace leaked the document outlining US sabotage of European proposals.
